Background

DieselGas was established specifically to implement the design and development of technology to allow the use of alternative fuels in diesel engines. A team of skilled Diesel, Combustion and Electronics Engineers based in New Zealand have progressively developed the technology over the past 22 years.

Special relationships have been developed with major engine companies such as Cummins and Caterpillar Inc USA resulting in Caterpillar appointing DieselGas as a Certified Equipment Supplier of dual fuel kits.

Dedicated and Dual Fuel gas engines

Dual fuel diesel engines have been used for generating electricity for more than half a century. These engines use diesel for pilot ignition and natural gas as the main power source. The DieselGas dual fuel system allows this same principle to be applied to a wider variety of applications including automotive, industrial and marine engines.

Dedicated gas engines have been used for many years to generate electricity and for industrial purposes but have been employed in more recent times for the more demanding automotive application.

The DieselGas Electronic "Gas Engine Management Systems" are widely accepted as leading edge technology. The use of a self-diagnostics, a PC interface and the Internet allows DieselGas to easily service clients around the world.

Experience

DieselGas has developed a team of specialist engineers who have converted more than:

25 different diesel engine models to dedicated CNG operation
35 diesel engine models to dual fuel CNG/diesel operation.
400 different petrol engine models to BI-fuel CNG/petrol & LPG/petrol operation.

Many of these vehicles have completed up to one million kilometres successful commercial operation.

This experience means DieselGas can offer well established and proven procedures for carrying out successful conversion projects on both diesel and petrol engines.

Personnel

The experience within the team of dedicated resident and contract engineers ranges from bright young graduates to those with more than 40 years experience in product development. A good mix of specialist electronics, combustion and automotive engineering disciplines gives a balanced approach to developing successful gas engine products. Electronic hardware and software development is undertaken in-house.

permanent staff

ROBERT DOESBURG
Software Engineer

A background in mathematics, statistics and computer science and nearly 35 years invlovement in the software development industry makes Robert well qualified to take responsibility for the development of embedded and GUI software for DieselGas. The introduction of the ST10 engine management microprocessor required the reverse engineering of existing engine management embedded software originally developed in the 1980's and 90's plus ongoing maintenance and development of this software. Development and maintenance of DGTech a GUI techician software programme that allows user friendly product servicing and faults analysis. Development and maintenance of test cell control and data acquisition systems.

STEVE MANN
Development engineer

With a background of more than 30 years in the automotive industry and an aptitude for computer aided design and data processing systems Steve brings practical skills to the position. Responsibility for the development of new diesel engine types to dual fuel operation including mechanical component design, development and testing and engine modification and testing. Test cell operation including performance and emissions testing of diesel and dual fuel engines. Engineering drawings, data collection, collation, storage and presentation.

Marketing

The Executive Management of DieselGas service client requirements in many continents of the world. The marketing philosophy of the company is to work on specific projects in niche markets. Projects have successfully completed in Eastern Europe, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Korea, Australia and USA. Joint development programmes with clients is a key focus.

Manufacturing

Most dedicated gas engine and dual fuel conversion systems are manufactured in New Zealand. Component suppliers are accessed from various countries around the world on the basis of the component suitability, quality, price and the delivery of their products.

Recognition

The product development skills within DieselGas have been recognised by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology in New Zealand with Technology for Business Growth grants awarded to assist product development over more than 15 years.
Caterpillar Inc. USA commissioned DieselGas to develop a Dual Fuel system for their 3306 engine. Upon the successful completion of extensive factory and road testing a formal licence agreement was signed allowing Caterpillar manufacturing and sales rights and qualifying DieselGas as a certified Caterpillar Inc supplier. The product is also endorsed with a full Caterpillar factory warranty.

Unique Technology

DieselGas brings together a unique group of skills, knowledge and experience as well as a unique Engine Management System and Technician Interface Software programme which in total is the "DieselGas Technology". When this Technology is implemented, by DieselGas in co-operation with engine manufactures, Project Objectives are assured.
