DieselGas
develop alternative fuels engines. This includes dual
fuel engine and dedicated gas engines, engine controllers
and specialist gas engine components for low emissions
engine.
dual fuel engines
Dual fuel engines are diesel engines
that operate using diesel for pilot ignition with the
main power coming from compressed natural gas (CNG).
Over 22 years DieselGas has developed more than 20 different
dual fuel engine types.The DieselGas dual fuel system
uses the ST10 engine management controller and DGTech
technician interface with mostly purpose designed built
hardware components. Each different engine type requires
an application engineering development process (see
Dual fuel engine development) that allows the engine
to operate at 90% gas at full load and meet strict emissions

Dedicated gas engines
Dedicated gas engines are diesel
engines that have been modified to operate on natural
gas as a single fuel. The engine modifications are significant
in that pistons, cylinder head and distributor drives
design need to be changed. Dedicated gas engines use
the DieselGas ST10 engine management controller and
DGTech technician interface along with with mostly purpose
designed built hardware components. Lean burn or stoichiometric
combustion technology can be used, with or without a
catalyst, depending on the emissions and fuel efficiency
requirements. Each different engine type requires an

Engine controllers
DieselGas maintains electronic hardware
and software development capability in house. The SGS
Thompson ST10 269 microprocessor used in all DieselGas
engine management controllers was develop by the DieselGas
team. The DGTech technician interface GUI programme
has also been developed by DieselGas. The DGTech graphical
interface programme allows technicians to analyse, automatically
generated, fault logs and diagnostic logs. Historical
and driving cycle data can also be analysed and communicated
electronically to the DieselGas factory.DieselGas can
offer this engine management system and the development
capability to engine manufacturers for alternative fuels

Dual fuel power generation
Electric power generation using purpose
built dual fuel engines has been available for many
decades. DieselGas has applied its dual fuel technology
to existing diesel generators to allow them to operate
using pilot diesel for ignition with the power coming
from natural gas.The system can be interfaced for grid
or stand alone applications with 90% substitution and
diesel equivalent fuel efficiency possible in most cases.

Components
DieselGas engine management
technology always incorporates the DieselGas microprocessor
engine controller. Other components such as gas injection
vales, air fuel ratio control throttle bodies, temperature
sensors and diesel actuator components are purpose designed
and built in house.
Components such as primary gas regulators and pressure
sensors are purchased from reputable component suppliers.
